A hold-up is a type of stocking designed to stay up without the use of suspenders. This is achieved by having a tight band of latex on the inside of the stocking top.
While such stockings are easier to put on than normal ones because they dispense with the need to put on a suspender belt and fasten the suspenders, many people dislike them because they lack the visual impact of normal ones.
Stockings made of rubber can often stay up by themselves, so can be regarded as hold-ups.
