The alt.sex.bondage Usenet newsgroup was the first publically visible BDSM resource on the Internet.
Discussions in the group popularised many components of today's BDSM subculture, including the abbreviations BDSM and TPE, and maxims such as Ugol's Law and YKIOK,IJNMK.
