File:Labanotation-Gorean-obeisance.png
An attempted representation of basic features of the Gorean "common position of obeisance" or "first obeisance position" in the "Labanotation" dance writing system. The central columns indicate that the weight is supported on the elbows and possibly lower arms (since the arms are significantly bent at the elbow) and on the knees (technically high kneeling, since the hips are above the knees). The column to the left of the box shows that the torso is forward, and sloping down from hips to shoulders (this left placement is an arbitrary notational convention). The outer columns indicate that the palms of the hands are flat on the floor.
(Note that though the upper legs are vertical in the position written by this diagram, there is a nominal concession to semi-confusing Labanotation conventions according to which they should technically be written as though angling backwards when in a "mixed support" situation.)
