Talk:Advice: Caning

I see that in June 2006, the Cane topic was moved to this topic, Advice: Caning. A lot of the text here doesn't seem to be about Advice but about canes or caning. Does anyone mind if I have a go at splitting this text out? I also think Caning should redirect to Birching rather than Cane - any comments? --Interesdom 17:14, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Certainly go ahead and split it out. Is caning synonymous with birching? You can hit people with a wide variety of objects, e.g. paddle, cane, crop, whip, switch, belt or the hand. Let's link them all from Corporal punishment.--Taxwoman 15:01, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

The book A Guide to the Correction of Young Gentlemen: the successful administration of physical discipline to males - by females was written by the late Jacqueline Ophir in the 1980’s and published by the Alice Kerr-Sutherland Society (AKS). That it was written by the Alice Kerr-Sutherland in 1924 but before it could be published all known copies were seized by England's Vice Squad and, after a sensational trial, burned - by order of the judge (except one) is a myth!
