I am not sure if this article should be here. It is not about BDSM and comes across as very anti Muslim and is written from a very non nutral point of view. Persoanlly I would rather it be removed but would be prepared to rewritten more in the style of the wipipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_genital_cutting. According to their artilce it is practiced by both Christian and Muslim faiths and as a practice predates both. 10:09, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

I also find the tone very disturbing. It is not universal among Muslims. While common in Sub-Saharan Africa, it is pretty rare in India.--Taxwoman 11:33, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

I was coming here to offer basically the same comments -- while it is true that the the most horrific forms of "cutting and sewing" are practiced along a largely Muslim axis through Nubia-Sudan-Eritrea-Somalia, ordinary clitoridectomy is by no means practiced by Muslims only, and is hardly practiced by all Muslims (how could it be when it's mostly confined to Africa??). See maps at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Female_genital_mutilation etc. AnonMoos 16:57, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
