I've fixed it about as much as I can currently figure out how to do. The rise of artificial stretch fabrics should probably be mentioned in the "History" section, and panty fetishism should be promoted from a "see also" link and be given some discussion in the "Current significance" section... A linguistic oddity

The word "panties" was originally given plural form because ca. the 1920's panties had two legs (the same reason for the plural ending of words such as "trousers" or "pants", Victorian "drawers" and "bloomers", "knickers" etc.). By now, they haven't commonly had legs for at least 50 years, but they're still referred to in the plural... AnonMoos 12:56, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
