As the Wikipedia community is not only far larger but also more heterogenous, it is normal that there are quite some people of a negative disposition to anything, especially not mainstream and indeed fringd upon in certain, let us say conservative, circles.

Therefore, if wipipedians want their sphere of interest well represented, they do best to consider starting an account on Wikipedia. Not only can they then then put 'threatened' articles on their watchlist to assume their defense, and indeed introduce wipipedia articles on sujects neglected on wikipedia (it's open access) but they should find there is lots of material there that could specifically appeal to wipipedians. For example, most of my contributions here on aspects and types of corporal punishments etcetera were written for Wikipedia, and there is much more still to be tapped into. Well said, much (probably most) of the content on the Wipipedia is from the Wikipedia. I also try to provide links back into wikipedia for articles or subjects that are not BDSM related but form part of an article. The problem with Wikipedia for BDSM subjects is that it is much more difficult to find related articles as the categorisation system is a bit of a mess. We also need to guard against wiki spammers vandalising artles. Balzac 09:00, 22 January 2006 (GMT)

Wipipedia advantages over Wikipedia

A further problem with Wikipedia is the set of policies [1] (especially) [2] [3] that effectively constrain Wikipedia's content to only that which has been published by professionals, in a major journal, and is free of copyright. I can understand some of the origin of these policies but to my mind it is a distinct problem that makes specialist wikis like this one necessary. This has been surfacing for a time in Wikipedia and is now seriously affecting the usefulness of the content there. I would like to know if others here feel the same; if so, I will amend the article here on Wikipedia to highlight the advantage of this encyclopedia over that one (and will probably enter the balancing advantages in the Wipidedia article on Wikipedia). --Interesdom 07:04, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I frequently get such problems - see the Wikipedia article Corset.--Taxwoman 13:31, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
