Tap pants are shorts similar to those worn by tap dancers in the 1930s while practicing their routines. They have short, loose legs, allowing the wearer's legs free movement during energetic routines. They may be worn as underwear or as visible shorts.

They are available in a range of materials, including satin and silk, and may have lace trim around the bottom of the legs.
