Watersports (also known as Golden shower and technically as urolagnia or urophilia) is sexual attraction to, or use of urine in play. It forms scenes between all sexual orientations, with or without a power element involved.

People who enjoy this might like to urinate in public, or urinate on, or be urinated on by, other people, and may drink urine. Some like to watch others doing these things. Being fellated while urinating is a distinct, often pleasurable sensation.

Watersports is signified by yellow in the Gay Hanky Code

Safety

It is generally considered harmless, as the urine of healthy individuals is sterile. However, a small risk exists if there is disease present, or bacterial infection of the urethra. There may also be secondary effects, such as skin rashes in individuals sensitive to urine. HIV can be transmitted in urine. Although fresh urine is usually sterile, it can quickly attract harmful bacteria, so urine that is not fresh should be treated with care.

In the absence of STDs, urine is generally safe to drink in small quantities. The main dangers are the high salt and mineral content. The high salt content usually does not pose a problem if the urine is sufficiently diluted and not consumed in mass quantities. One may also wish to drink some water after consuming urine in order to mitigate the effect of the high salt. The person whose urine will be consumed may also wish to drink some water (or diet soda, see below) several hours before the act in order to dilute the urine.

Since artificial sweeteners are excreted in urine, consuming artificial sweetener before urine play can lend a sweet taste to the urine. Drinking diet soda, or other beverages containing artifical sweetener, before urine play will have the dual effect of diluting the urine and sweetening it. However, if you taste sugar in you or your partner's urine and you or your partner have not consumed artificial sweetener, this may be a sign of diabetes and you should see a doctor.

Side effects

The participants should use caution or avoid drinking urine if one or both of them are taking vitamin or mineral supplements or medication, since many of these are excreted in urine.

Another side effect of drinking urine is the the effects of receiving testosterone and oestrogen in abundance. A male drinking from a female regularly, several times a day every day, for long periods of time, months and months, can begin to feminise; he can begin to develop a fleshy chest and have a decrease in erectile function, among other things. Likewise, a female ingesting lots of male urine can begin to have voice alterations, grow hair on the face and body and develop other facets of masculinity. One would not have genital transformations, but an extended period of drinking profusely does have effects. This can be good or bad for the couple. Urine consumption is a practised, if not very reliable, method for feminising males, used by those who do not want to use medicines for transformation. Some Dom/mes even require their slaves to consume the flux from a menstruating woman to add to the oestrogen consumption for feminising males. Entering "Menstrual slave" into a search engine will give information on the safety and training of this form of surrender and service.

Drinking too much (of urine or any liquid) can put a strain on the kidneys since the urine must be excreted.

Another adverse side effect of profuse urine consumption is caused because urine has high concentrations of acid at times. This can damage the enamel of a drinker's teeth over time. Drinkers should brush their teeth as soon as possible after ingesting urine.
