- There must be many tens of thousands on wikipdia, I alone created hundreds - basically, it distinguishes 'temporary' redirects (pending the creation of a specifically specialised page) from 'synonymous' redirects which can just as well be replaced with our without piping (except that duplication is avoided). In a few months, you should find ample examples right here, for example specific types of cats, whips etc. for which no special page exists can get a redirect 'with possibilities' untill someone feels he has enough material to create a specific page on, say, the reduced cat.
