[edit] Stock whips are not suitable for SM play unless in the hands of an expert.

I have problems with a statement like this. How is one to become 'expert' and by what means can one tell whether one (or another) is skilled enough in using a stock whip before they use it? Could we elucidate please? --Interesdom 12:52, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Good point, I am tring to differentiate between someone who has the ability to crack a whip and someone who has the experience to use it safely, say Alex Cobra. Balzac 14:07, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
It is quite difficult to use a whip properly. It took me years.--Taxwoman 22:10, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Although expert is wooly, I can't think of a better term to use. Balzac 00:20, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

What would be good as a practice target to be able to strike without splitting it? Standard printer paper? Toilet tissue? This is a genuine question for me, as well as seeking some better definition for Wipipedia. --Interesdom 16:54, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
