Whale tail

Whale tail is the Y-shaped waistband of a thong or g-string when visible above the waistline of low-rise jeans, shorts or a skirt. Its name comes from its resemblance to a whale's tail.
It became prominent in the early 2000s, due to the growing popularity of low-rise jeans and thongs.
