Neutral point of view

Neutral point of view (NPOV) is a method of writing articles that are without bias and that represent all views fairly.

For the majority of artcles on the Wipipedia, it is the goal you should strive to achieve. However, the Wipipedia is more than an encyclopedia and there will be cases where NPOV is not appropriate. Where personal opinion is being voiced it should however be clearly stated. The best procedure may often be to write a "Personal Experiences" article. Non-NPOV articles that are clearly advertising will be altered to bring them into line, moved to the orginator's home page, or deleted.

The concept is easily misunderstood. It does not assume that it is possible to write an article from a single, unbiased, objective point of view. The policy says that we should fairly represent all sides of a dispute, and not make an article state, imply, or insinuate that any one side is correct.

For guidance on making an article conform to the neutral point of view (NPOV), please see the Wikipedia tutorial.
